About the First Meeting of the Kazakh-Chinese Sub-Committee
Beijing, November 17-19, 2004
For realization of the decisions made at the first Kazakh-Chinese Committee on Cooperation held on July 2, 2004, the first meeting of the Sub-committee on Cooperation between the border check-points and cooperation in the field of Customs activity was held on November 17-19, 2004 in Beijing.
The Chinese delegation was headed by Mr. Sen Guantzu, co-chairperson of the Sub-committee, deputy Commissioner of the Customs Department of the People Republic of China. As co-chairperson of the Kazakh side of the Sub-committee, Mr. Erzhanov, the first deputy Chairman of the Customs Control Committee under the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan headed the Kazakh delegation.
In compliance with the agenda, the two sides approved the list of members of the Kazakh-Chinese Sub-committee and agreed upon the draft Regulation on the Sub-committee.
During the meeting, the participants discussed the issues regarding the activity of the border check-points and cooperation on customs issues on the Kazakh-Chinese border.
The two sides considered the problems regarding transfer of persons, vehicles and goods through the Kazakh-Chinese border and made decision to establish a working group that will study and agree upon further improvement of the activity of border check-points.
The two sides confirmed that relevant controlling bodies at the border check-points will actively participate in and contribute to establishing the “Khorgos” International Centre on Cross Border Cooperation.
The decision was made to hold the second meeting of the Sub-committee on Cooperation between the border check-points and cooperation in the field of Customs activity in Almaty in September 2005.
